Trainer

Some beginners wonder if they need a skateboard coach. It would seem that a skateboard is a simple thing to get up on.

Skateboard coach – do I need one?

With a coach, you can learn to skate many times faster. You can also avoid mistakes in technique. You won’t have to learn the wrong movements. These, in turn, will not interfere with your skateboarding. This will make the process of skateboarding more enjoyable. You’ll also get the feel for it a lot quicker. Of course, if you like the process, not the result, and see skateboarding as a new kind of obstacle in your life. Whether or not you want to learn on your own, and take pride in that achievement. Then you definitely need to learn to skate on your own. But if you don’t have that ambition. And that desire to “test yourself”. Then everything will be much easier with a coach.

Many of our students have been able to learn the basic movements in as little as 4 lessons. Regardless of their level or age. And after 8 lessons, they became much more confident in controlling the board in different situations. Which, by the way, often happens while riding around town.

Skateboard coach and safety

But skateboarding is an extreme sport. And if you want to stay in one piece while taking your first steps on a skateboard, we can help you. A coach will be sure to tell you all the nuances and the smallest details. Keeping an eye on you every second, he will not even allow mistakes on your part. As soon as you start to make them, he will immediately tell you how to correct them. The coach also often accompanies the student, walking beside him, supporting and giving support during new movements. A competent trainer will never give you tasks for which you are not yet ready. We mean you don’t understand how to do them.

The trainer’s task is not to impress you with difficult and impressive exercises, but to structure the learning process. Of course, in individual training sessions this is all adapted to you and changes all the time. Each task will be relatively easy for you to complete. And it may even seem like skateboarding is easy. But in fact, this indicates that the training program is built intelligently, depending on your current level. In such small and uncomplicated steps, you’ll get to the result many times faster than those who jump from entry level to more advanced, bumping. Such a process will make learning stress-free and stress-free, and will make learning enjoyable and even easy.

Criteria for a bad coach:
  • The skateboard trainer is very young. It is likely that he is inexperienced in coaching. He has not faced different difficult situations and does not know how to deal with them correctly;
  • The skateboard coach skates badly. Or, as is often the case, is engaged in parallel training in other sports. Most likely, this is not his profession and favorite thing to do, but only a hobby, or one of the skills he decides to use to make a living;
  • He’s withdrawn or overly strict. You may find it difficult to get your message across in difficult situations. He, in turn, may not hear you and misunderstand the situation. As a consequence, give inappropriate advice and guidance. Also, skateboarding is fun. And you didn’t start training to win gold at the Olympics in four years;
  • It’s often distracting. This also includes if you get the feeling that the coach has come to rest. If he only gives you tasks and goes off on his own, or talks to someone else, leave such a coach. Skateboarding is an activity that requires constant attention. While skateboarding, of course, yours is. But while you are learning, the coach is watching the process with you. By the way, this is why individual lessons are many times better and more effective than group lessons.
Criteria for a really good skateboard coach:
  • A skateboard coach has a lot of experience in teaching beginners;
  • If he has achievements in skateboarding, it means he has already coached himself competently, at the very least;
  • If you easily find rapport with him. This will make it easier to understand in the learning process. Moments like communication, explanations are an integral part of the lesson;
  • If he is attentive to your actions and words. A skateboard trainer should be watching you at all times during training.
